American pharmaceutical giant, Johnson & Johnson recently agreed to pay $6.3 million as compensation to everyone who purchased “Infant Tylenol” since 2014 [1]. The class-action lawsuit against the company claimed its packaging of the paracetamol medication was deceptive and misleading. The plaintiffs insisted that it contained the same concertation of acetaminophen in Children’s Tylenol [2]. Parents were deceived into paying more for it, believing it was specially manufactured for a baby’s needs.

While Johnson & Johnson vehemently denied the allegation, they agreed to pay the settlement to people who may have bought the product in the past five years, between Oct. 3, 2014, and Jan. 6, 2020.

The company was also required to make “reasonably diligent efforts” in rebranding the two products as the same or changing the concentration of the infants’ variant.

You are included in the settlement as a class member if you are based in the United States and purchased the medication for household or personal use. You must file a claim for your share of the $6.315 million funds before April 13, 2020. You may or may not provide a proof of purchase while filing your claim, although it could boost your chances of being considered for compensation.
