Other ways to keep occupied during self-isolation
Staying home is difficult, especially for those of us who normally have a packed social agenda (and like it that way!) or have kids now on an extended vacation without much to do. To keep yourself and your quarantine partners occupied, here are a few other fun activities you can do from home:
- Virtual Museum Tours
There are plenty of museums all around the world offering free virtual tours of their facilities to help you explore the world from the safety of your living room. Museums taking part include The Louvre in Paris, The Guggenheim in NYC, The Vatican, and NASA to name a few.
Visit this link for a full list of museums offering virtual tours during the lockdown. - Live concerts
Whether you want to listen to Pop, Rock, Country, Classical, or Hip Hop, many of your favorite artists, bands, and orchestras are hosting virtual concerts to help you feel the noise from the comfort of your couch.
Visit Billboard for updates on current music concerts and visit NPR for a full list of concerts separated by genre. - Social Distancing Festival
From music and theatre performances to art shows, the Social Distancing Festival has got you covered! They have a full calendar of events that they are adding to every day, so it is the perfect way for you to take in various art forms and performances from all over the world. - Scholastic’s Free At-Home Education Website
The popular education company has launched an online learning website to help keep your kids engaged and learning during their extended March Break. Check out the Scholastic website for activities and fun learning games. - Dance Classes
A dance studio in Cleveland wants to help keep people moving and trying new things even while they are stuck at home. Read here for more information. - Fitness classes
You know what they say, summer bodies are built in… self isolation? In all seriousness, plenty of gyms, fitness studios, and clubs are offering classes and challenges to help you stay fit while staying safe. Most of the big gyms, such as Gold’s, Crunch, and LA Fitness are putting out workouts to help their members stay fit. Here are a few other places you can check out for workouts:- MyCrew social fitness app for workouts happening in your city, free to download!
- Blink Fitness
- Orangetheory
- Peloton – the next 90 days are free!
- Midnight Runners – normally a global social bootcamp run club, they’re offering a full schedule of virtual workouts and challenges on their Instagram page.
The list of things to do at home is really endless. Puzzles, crafts, learning a new language – whatever you need to stay occupied and stay sane.
So get going on some of this virtual fun and don’t forget to wash your hands!
