Last week’s workouts were all about welcoming summer back. Or at least for a few days before spring returned. Or finally decided to show up? I’m so confused by the weather. Monday it was 50 degrees. Wednesday, 94 degrees. Sunday 60 degrees and raining. Is it spring? Is it summer? I don’t care as long as it’s not winter again!

My toes were still feeling beat up from Sunday’s trail run. I decided to skip the trails and take it easy on the roads. Besides, it was absolutely gorgeous out. My first tank and shorts run of the season. Woohoo!
Things loosened up with each mile. I actually felt a ton better after the run. Yes!
Wednesday
This workout was short and sweet because I had to go into work earlier than usual. I could have set my alarm for 30 minutes earlier than usual to get a full workout in but that would have been way too close to the 3 a.m. hour. No thanks.

5 mile run, 8:41 avg pace, 243 ft elev gain
Oh happy day! Summer decided to stay another day. I woke up to 63 degrees and what felt like 100% humidity (no clue what it was!). I.Loved.It. After the winter we had, I want to sweat and not just because I have loads of layers on. I want to wear tanks and shorts for all my runs now. Please let this weather stay for the next few months!
Later in the day I got in a 60 minute Yoga Flow class @ Bending Bodhi Yoga. My hips were happy when we stayed in pigeon forever.
Friday
6.4 mile run with 4 hill repeats, 765 ft elev gain, 9:32 avg pace
Kyle and I met up for a rolling hill run that included tackling the mega hill in town 4 times. We had a good laugh that in all the months that we’ve been running together, this is the first time we’ve been able to show some skin. Tanks and shorts are the best!
Clearly, I do my best running with my eyes closed.Â
Saturday
5.1 mile run, 8:58 avg pace, 259 ft elev gain
There really wasn’t anything spectacular about this run. I busted out as many miles as I could before shuttling kids around to sports. Saturday mornings in May are going to be cray-cray.
Sunday
6.8 mile trail run, 822 ft elev gain, 10:04 avg pace
I slept in, had a late breakfast and kind of procrastinated going for a run. I really didn’t want to run on the roads. I spontaneously decided to hit the trails. I couldn’t decide on which one so I asked Ron to pick. He did good picking the Stratham Hill trails. The trails were in immaculate condition since the weekly Thursday night trail running series started up last week. Nothing like having swept clean trails! I would have run longer but I was running short on time. Maybe I’ll try to make it to one of the Thursday night races this month?
