Ingredients

Turmeric Powder

Turmeric is a powerhouse of nutrition. It contains compounds called curcuminoids which have medicinal properties. It increases brain health and has benefits to help prevent heart disease. It may be helpful in preventing diseases such as cancer, Alzheimer’s Disease, depression, diabetes, and arthritis.

It is a powerful antioxidant and strong anti-inflammatory and actually fights inflammation at the molecular level. Nutritional experts recommend combining turmeric with black pepper, as the black pepper enhances the absorption of curcumin by 2000%.  Organic turmeric powder can be purchased from Thrive Market.

Coconut Oil/Powder

Coconut oil contains Medium Chain Triglycerides (MCTs), which are metabolized differently by going straight from the digestive tract to the liver, where they are used as a quick source of energy, or turned into ketones. MCTs in coconut oil can increase how many calories you burn compared to the same amount of other fats.

An additional benefit of coconut oil comes from the fatty acid lauric acid, which when digested, forms monolaurin, which can kill pathogens such as bacteria, viruses, and fungi. Organic coconut oil can be purchased from Thrive Market.

Black Pepper

Black Pepper wins the understated spice of the year award. It offers beneficial amounts of manganese, vitamin K, iron, fiber, and potassium. Black pepper can hold its own, but in really, the piperine alkaloid in black pepper is a superstar supporter to help other beneficial nutrients reach their full potential. Organic black pepper can be purchased from Thrive Market.

Why Combine?

Turmeric has a difficult time getting past the stomach and into the small intestines where it’s absorbed into the blood. By combining turmeric with piperine, it bypasses the stomach and helps to increase the absorption. One study showed that even a small amount of black pepper boosted the bioavailability of curcumin by up to 2000%.

How to Make a DIY Capsule

Adding these spices to your foods, or drinking “Golden Milk” isn’t always an easy option. By combining these three superstars into a capsule, you can make a quick and easy nutritional and energy powerhouse without the odd taste.

Add equal parts turmeric powder, coconut oil or powder, and freshly ground black pepper to a 00 sized capsule. Take once a day with a glass of water.
